This post is all about my experience with acne including some questions that you might want to ask. I made this post to serve as a basis for my future blog posts about different products and treatments for acne that I've tried and will try, so that in case you just came across my blog today, you could easily read through this and maybe have some of your questions answered. Let's get started! :)

Now, I'll begin with my acne story way back from grade school. When I was in sixth grade, tiny bumps started appearing on my forehead, but aside from that the rest of my face remained clear. Take note that I have no skin care routine during this time as I was only young and my face never concerned me yet. I would wash my face in the morning and night with regular soaps and that was it. This situation remained for around 2 years until I began to notice pimples appearing on my cheeks when I was in junior high. During this time, my interest in make up started when I saw my mother's mousse matte foundation (I really can't remember the brand!) and tried to apply it. Ever since that day, I never left our house without that on my face, which is actually not bad on itself. My only mistake was that come night time, I would still simply wash my face with soap and water, but this time I removed my make up with...
... an astringent! I KNOW. I know. I would rub that on my face using cotton balls multiple times until it comes off clean. Can I cry now? I really can't imagine what my past self was thinking that time! So, as expected, pimples and blackheads kept me company up until today. Thanks 15-year-old Marissa!!
Kidding aside, seeing that my face is starting to be a problem, I went to a few dermatologists that have prescribed me tubes of products that seem to work for sometime until my pimples just simply resisted them. I also tried doing home remedies which, as far as I can remember, actually improved my skin then. I really can't remember why I stopped doing those. -_- Two of my favorites are egg mask and tomato mask. Whenever I did those two (on different nights) I would wake up with no new pimple (I PROMISE) on my face. But just recently, I tried doing them again, and sadly they don't work for me anymore. :(
Realizing that my face needs more than just home made masks, I searched the drugstore for products that are "anti-acne." I came across Eskinol and Pond's. It was just mere luck that those two did not made my skin worse when I tried them, and they also somehow helped with my acne. At this point, I learned how to properly remove my make up before actually cleansing my face, and it is by using baby oil (which I would then change to olive oil) on a damp cotton pad. After a few months of using the two, I tried to find better products that would actually make my pimples just disappear. Unfortunately, there was no product like that, especially at a drugstore. I've had many trial-and-errors until I decided to go to a local spa that offers facials. That didn't work too so I just continued with my routine. Then, just this year, pimples started to appear on my face everyday, having a new one each morning. Add the fact that my skin texture was rough since I still didn't know how to properly exfoliate. I actually tried to use a face scrub once, but it only broke me out, so I stayed away from those ever since.
Then I remembered about acne.org and the many good reviews that it has online, so I decided to save up for it. Since they don't ship to my country, I had to find a local seller with reasonable prices. Good thing eBay exists! Once my order arrived, I did not hesitate to begin with the "regimen". For the first two months, the pimples appearing on my skin actually lessened, although one would still pop up on some days. But when I was nearing my third month of using those products, I realized that they actually did my face more bad than good. I was so focused on getting rid of my pimples that I didn't notice my face getting darker and rougher. I don't intend to discourage you from buying their products as they were actually effective, and I don't even blame their products in the first place. I think the reason why it wasn't effective for me that time was because I started a bit fast. They say that the key for the "regimen" to work was to start slow.
That being said, my brother noticed how bad my face had become and suggested that I go to Flawless, a local skin care clinic, with him since he currently goes there for acne treatment too. I purchased their Acne Control Kit and that was the beginning of me really taking care of my skin and being cautious of what I put on it, since I also availed of Flawless' treatment package which cost quite a lot and I wouldn't want to just waste that.
I am currently waiting for my fourth appointment for that treatment (I availed 6) and so far my face is not reacting bad to it which is a very important thing for me since that means that this may be the answer to my acne problems (I REALLY HOPE SO!!!).
As for now, my concerns are whiteheads and blackheads that are not too many but are still quite noticeable. If you want to know my routine for keeping my face as clear as it can be, check out my Skincare Routine page which I update regularly.
